Students who did not obtain their previous degree(s) at an institution of the Flemish Community should submit an application via KU Leuven or Ghent University depending on their choice of major. If you wish to specialize in Geosciences, an application via the Admissions Office of KU Leuven should be submitted. If you wish to specialize in Basins and Orogens or in Groundwater and Mineral Resources, submit an application at Ghent University.

Diploma requirements
Bachelor of Geology obtained outside the Flemish community or other degrees will be admitted on individual basis.Language requirements
All applicants must prove their proficiency in English. The accepted English proficiency tests are:- TOEFL iBT: minimum overall score of 90. Please use university code 0749 for KU Leuven and 2643 for UGent.
- IELTS Academic test: minimum overall score of 7.0
- A certificate awarded by the Ghent University Language Centre confirming proficiency in English, CEFR-level B2.
- Certificate Practical English 5, Upper-Intermediate Academic English or Preparing for an English test, issued by the Ghent University Language Centre.
- Cambridge-ESOL: First certificate in English (FCE)
The following applicants are exempted from submitting an English proficiency certificate:
- Applicants who have obtained a diploma of secondary or higher education in the Flemish community;
- Applicants whose official transcript of records demonstrate that they have passed the examinations of at least one year of study in secondary or higher education in English (i.e. the student needs to have obtained 60 credits).

English version of course description: We ask an English version (or translation) of the course description for the courses that you deem most relevant as a preparation for the master.
