Students with a degree not obtained at an institution of the Flemish Community

Students who did not obtain their previous degree(s) at an institution of the Flemish Community should submit an application via the Admissions Office: https://www.kuleuven.be/english/application/.

Diploma requirements

To qualify for admission to the Master of Biomedical Sciences at the KU Leuven, you must:

- Have a relevant bachelor's degree (for example Biomedical Sciences, Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Sciences.)

This implies a bachelor's degree obtained at a high level university with sufficient education in the following subjects: Molecular Cellular Biology, Genetics, Immunology, Anatomy, Pathology, Physiology, Microbiology, Neurosciences, Epidemiology and Statistics. Practical training in molecular biological and biochemical techniques is also required.

Insufficient education in a number of the aforementioned subjects may be compensated by sufficient previous education in other subjects relevant for a Biomedical Science education (e.g. Biochemistry, Pharmacology).

Language requirements

All applicants must prove their proficiency in English. The accepted English proficiency tests are:
-  TOEFL IBT: minimum overall score of 100, with minimum subscores of 20
-  IELTS Academic: overall score 7, with minimum subscores of 6.5
-  CAE/CPE: overall C1 Advanced (CAE) or C2 Proficiency (CPE) score

Applicants who have obtained a previous diploma in a programme taught in English in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America are exempted from submitting an English proficiency test.

Additional requirements

- For the courses that you deem most relevant to the Master of Biomedical Sciences, a brief course description (one half to a full page) should be added to the application file. The course description should contain a brief description of the course objectives, the main topics treated, the workload per course unit and the course materials used.

- Two recommendation letters.

- Additional information (by mail or phone conference) can be requested by the committee before reaching a decision.
