Programme at Zurich University
At the University of Zurich students of the Faculty of Law of the KU Leuven are enrolled in the Master of Law UZH in the study program International and Comparative Law . They must complete the following study program: ‘Compulsory module: introduction to Swiss Law’ (6 ECTS), Elective courses (36 ECTS), with a focus on Common Subjects, International Law and Comparative Law, ‘Master’s dissertation’ (12 ECTS) with a complementary 6 ECTS methodology course ‘Legal Theory or ‘Legal Methods’ (organized biennial, 2023-2024, 2025-2026,…) for a total of 60 ECTS.
Please consult the programme on the KU Leuven Law Faculty webpage. Or consult Zurich University ‘s double degree website.
PLEASE NOTE that the student is not allowed to take up the same/similar course in Zurich or Leuven as already taken up at the partner university. Even if the course has a different name but the content very much corresponds with the course followed at the partner institution, the student will not be allowed to take it up. It is therefore important that students familiarize themselves with the programme at both universities before selecting their courses. If in doubt, contactlaw.doubledegree@kuleuven.be. In case of breach of this rule, the study points obtained from following the same/similar course will not count towards obtaining the double degree and the student will be required to take up another course to make up for the lost study points (even if this is only possible the year thereafter). It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that he/she does not register for the same/similar course.42 ECTS Course Modules Double Degree KU Leuven-Zürich C04M7A staff- N.
