This master's programme brings students to the advanced level of knowledge and skills that is associated with scientific work in the broad sense, and more particularly to those areas of the engineering sciences that are related to civil engineering. The focus of the civil engineering major is on the construction of buildings and infrastructure. Design processes as well as aspects of technical execution are discussed extensively.

Degree holders are able to apply the acquired scientific knowledge independently in a broad social context. Furthermore, they have the necessary organisational skills to hold executive positions.

Graduates obtain the professional title of ‘industrieel ingenieur’. Students can enrol in this initial master's programme on a full-time or part-time basis The campus focuses on a specific research area and is equipped with high-tech laboratories to conduct research in their respective fields.

The programme-specific learning outcomes are:

Knowledge and comprehension (MK)
MK1 Scientific-disciplinary knowledge and comprehension in the field of Engineering Technology
MK2 Gaining in-depth knowledge and comprehension in at least one of the following disciplines in Civil Engineering Technology and/or Surveying Engineering Technology: Static and dynamic design of structures, Civil infrastructure, Construction techniques, Building physics and comfort, Materials management, Surveying and Geomatics
