Students with a degree obtained at an institution of the Flemish Community

After admission procedure

Candidates who already hold a master's degree in agricultural, civil, environmental engineering or equivalent from an institution of the Flemish Community, can apply for the abridged master's programme. They can be exempted of 60 ECTS of the regular 120 ECTS programme. Applicants should have gained an equivalent of 60 or more relevant ECTS in their previous training. The relevance refers to mathematical, statistical and/or chemical techniques, data processing tools, knowledge in one or more aspects of water resources engineering and master’s thesis research. Applications are evaluated on an individual basis and should be submitted to the Programme Committee.



Students with a degree not obtained at an institution of the Flemish Community

Students who did not obtain their previous degree(s) at an institution of the Flemish Community should submit an application via the Admissions Office: https://www.kuleuven.be/english/application/.

Diploma requirements

Candidates who already hold a master's degree from a university in the European Economic Area (EEA) in agricultural, civil, or environmental engineering or equivalent can apply for the abridged master's programme. They can be exempted of 60 ECTS of the regular 120 ECTS programme. Applicants should have gained an equivalent of 60 or more relevant ECTS in their previous training. The relevance refers to mathematical, statistical and/or chemical techniques, data processing tools, knowledge in one or more aspects of water resources engineering and master’s thesis research. Applications are evaluated on an individual basis.

Language requirements

All applicants who have not obtained a previous diploma in an English-taught programme in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America must submit a certificate proving their proficiency in English. All applicants need to meet the minimum language requirements of KU Leuven. In addition, they need to have obtained minimum scores of at least 18/30 (TOEFL iBT), 6/9 (IELTS Academic) or 170 (CAE/CPE) on each of the components tested (reading, writing, speaking, listening).
