Aims
The student is able to prepare a full research programme on a subject that is relevant to education:
- The student can look up relevant sources (primary and secondary), select them, critically assess them and refer to them correctly;
- The student can look up educational and teaching methodology literature and critically read, interpret and discuss the results of educational and teaching methodology research, in the context of setting up a teaching methodology research assignment;
- The student can translate a teaching methodology problem into a research question.
- The student can design and carry out a research project that leads to an answer to the research question, taking into account the consulted literature and using an appropriate methodology;
- The student can report in a scientific manner on the research carried out;
- The student can reflect critically on his own research;
- The student can give critical feedback on the research for the professional field

Explanation
Evaluation characteristics
The evaluation addresses the student's analytical and synthetic ability for independent problem solving at an academic level. The end product must be critically reflective and theoretically substantiated. These general criteria are translated into a number of separate sub-criteria that are taken into account during the process:
1. Elaboration of research proposal: motivation, central objective of the master's thesis and plan of action
2. Elaboration of research results: theoretical positioning, scientific quality, critical reflection and social or business relevance
3. Presentation of research results: argumentation, scientific format, oral presentation and dialogue
4. General attitude and motivation: analytical skills, attitude of rigor and motivation to learn, cooperation with all stakeholders
The deadline for submitting the master's thesis and the dates of the defense will be announced via Toledo.
Determination of the final result
The course is assessed by the assessment committee. The result is calculated at twenty points using a digit with one decimal place. Correct use of Standard Dutch in spoken and written language is required. Detailed information is available on Toledo.
If the stipulated submission deadline is not respected, the final assessment of the master's thesis will be NA (not taken), unless a new submission date is determined after application for serious reasons.
