POC Taal- en letterkunde

After a general introduction to literary theory and its development in Western thought, we examine the apparatus of concepts developed for the analysis of narrative texts, lyricism and drama. These concepts are contextualised and applied to fragments and literary texts, both in the lectures and in the accompanying practice sessions.

The course material consists of a syllabus published by Acco, a novella and literary fragments offered via Toledo.

This course is taught in Dutch.

The course consists of lectures and a compulsory additional practical exercise. This practical session consists of two parts: on the one hand a multiple choice test on the application of the concepts from the story analysis to a novella studied by the students independently, on the other hand participation in a seminar in which the exercise is discussed. Participation in both elements is compulsory.
