German I: Introductory Course (B-KUL-D0T41A)
Aims
This course is meant for students without or with very little prior knowledge of German. First of all, the aim is to optimize the reading- and writing skills of the students, so that any possible barrier to read or write any German text will disappear (with the necessary means, off course). Due to the size of the groups and the limited number of contact hours the oral language skills will only be dealt with marginally in this course.
Previous knowledge
No specific prior knowledge is required.

*
A central theme in this course is the systematic introduction of the grammatical basis essential for German. De seen grammatical theories are studied intensively with aid from previously written translation exercises or fill-in exercises, prepared by the students in advance. Apart from this, the syllabus also offers a number of (economic) texts, supporting the seen grammar, expanding on the vocabulary and teaching the “habits” of Germans.
