For Bachelors in de handelswetenschappen and Bachelors of Business Administration graduated at KU Leuven, the preparatory programme counts 17 ECTS.

Diploma requirements
Applicants should hold a university Bachelor's degree in Economics or Business Economics comparable to a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Economics or Business Engineering from the Faculty of Economics and Business at KU Leuven, Campus Leuven. They should have a solid background in macroeconomics, microeconomics, mathematics, statistics and management. During their prior education, applicants should have acquired the basic conceptual frameworks of diverse areas in business economics and have a sufficient broad view on the general economic and social contexts in which business operates and on the human networks within these organisations. Comparability is evaluated by the faculty on the basis of the required documents provided by the applicant through the official online application procedure.Language requirements
Applicants must prove their English language proficiency by means of a IELTS Academic or TOEFL test. The minimum score for IELTS is 7, for the TOEFL internet based test it is 94. The minimum sub-scores are 20 out of 30 for the TOEFL results and 6.5 for the IELTS results. Applicants who obtained an IELTS of 6.5 (minimum sub-scores 6.0) or a TOEFL of 90 (minimum sub-scores 20 out of 30) and have afterwards completed at least 1 year of full-time study in higher education in the English language, may also be considered for admission.Candidates who obtained the CPE Certificate or the CAE Certificate with a minimum overall score of 180 meet the requirement of the English language proficiency as well. An exemption from the proof of English proficiency by means of the above-mentioned tests is possible for applicants with a secondary education degree or a higher education degree earned in Australia, English speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom or the USA: the degree and transcripts suffice, provided they confirm that the entire study was completed in English. Students who completed their studies in a satellite campus which is located in another country than the main campus of the university are not eligible for an exemption from the English language proficiency certificate.
Students with a Flemish secondary education diploma and/or a Flemish academic bachelor/master degree are also exempted from the English language requirement.
Additional requirements
A GMAT / GRE test result is to be included in the application. For the GMAT (old version) a minimum score of 49 on the quantitative part and an overall score of 620 is required. For the GMAT (new version) a minimum score of 82 on the quantitative part and an overall score of 585 is required. Alternatively a GRE can be submitted with a minimum score of 164 on quantitative reasoning and 154 on verbal reasoning.Students with an academic bachelor/master degree from a Belgian university are exempted from the GMAT / GRE requirement. Students who completed an exchange programme at the Faculty of Economics and Business and obtained good results can be potentially exempted as well; they need to contact the faculty and request a waiver based on their transcript of records.

Students follow the core course (6 ECTS), choose one major in which they select courses for 24 ECTS and the Master's thesis (15 ECTS), one minor in which they select courses for 12 ECTS and one free elective (minimum 3 ECTS).
Students can only select the Master's Thesis in their ISP if they select it simultaneously with the core course (6 ECTS) and the courses of their major (24 ECTS) or if they have already passed these courses.
Students are free to select the major and minor they want but are advised to make sure they have the necessary prior knowledge for their chosen major and minor.
Students who obtained their bachelor's degree (at another educational institution) must always take at least 60 credits within the master's programme. It is not possible to reduce the study duration by means of exemptions based on credits obtained in the preceding Bachelor's programme. If necessary, the ISP must be supplemented with elective courses.
