1. Applicants should have obtained a 4 Year University Degree: 3 Year Bachelors + 1 Year Masters

2. Applicants should have graduated from prior studies with outstanding academic results or honours.

3. Accepted degrees are in the fields of Political Science, Sociology, Law, Economics or Contemporary European History

We welcome applications from candidates with a degree from other disciplines than the ones mentioned above, either based on

- relevant professional experience (in, for example, policy analysis or policy implementation),
- or if the candidate demonstrates a strong motivation to study the public sector and its different aspects.

3. Experience Statement: statement (and, if possible, proof) on previous research experience, experience with writing papers or a dissertation, preferably in English.

C. English language requirements

As the Master of European Politics and Policies is taught in English, applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. We only accept the following language certificates:
  -  TOEFL, for which the minimum total score is 100 (for the internet-based test)
  -  Academic IELTS, for which the minimum total score required is 7
  -  Cambridge English Qualifications for general and higher education, for which we accept a minimum score of 184 on C1 Advanced, or C2 Proficiency.
  -  ITACE, for which level C1 is required

Please note that no other English proficiency test is accepted.

For students whose undergraduate or previous studies have been completed in English (for at least four years), copies of transcripts and diplomas can prove English proficiency.

Students who obtained their secondary school diploma or academic degree in English in one of the following countries can be exempted from this requirement: Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States of America. In line with this requirement, we also accept students from Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Malta, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia or St Vincent and the Grenadines without a language certificate.

Test results of the language proficiency test can be provided within one month after the official application deadline, but a test registration should already be uploaded to the application form if the applicant has not yet received his/her test results at the time of the application.

Students who did not obtain their previous degree(s) at an institution of the Flemish Community should submit an application via the Admissions Office: https://www.kuleuven.be/english/application/.

Applicants should fill out the online application form, accessible via the KU Leuven Admissions Office website, together with the following documents: 
1.  Diplomas/transcripts and legalized translation: the applicant must upload PDF scans of his/her original diploma(s) and transcript(s) of academic records. If the documents are not in English, Dutch, French or German, please arrange for the documents to be translated by a registered translator. These documents must also be certified by the educational institution that issued them or by a national authority. If the applicant has not graduated yet, proof of provisional graduation issued by the university and the intermediate official transcript((s) should be uploaded. 
2.  Grade translation: a document explaining the grading system of the country (i.e. comparing the grades to numeric score) should be added.
3.  CV
4.  Letter of motivation: a two-page letter in English motivating your interest in the programme. 
5.  Experience statement: a statement (and, if possible, proof) on previous research experience, experience with writing papers or dissertation, preferably in English.
6.  ID or passport scan: a scan of the identity page of your passport or a scan of your ID.
