POC Antropologie

Upon completion of this course, the student is able to:

- generate insights into the status and position of writing in ethnography;

- better understand and manage his/her own writing processes;

- make use of a range of methods and techniques when writing his/her master thesis.

These aims are communicated to the students at the beginning of the course.

Students are enrolled in the Social and Cultural Anthropology master's programme and have submitted a topic of, and been assigned a supervisor for, their master’s thesis

POC Antropologie

Deze cursus vormt de laatste fase van de onderzoek-stroom vóór het indienen van de masterproef en bestaat uit 6 sessies.

Elke sessie wordt ingeleid door een korte plenaire lezing, gevolgd door schrijfactiviteit in break-out groepen aan de hand van een mix van individuele en collectieve opdrachten, en wordt afgesloten met een plenaire bespreking van het proces en de resultaten van het schrijven in de break-out groepen.

Het overkoepelende thema van de cursus is 'Diversiteiten en normativiteiten' en de belangrijkste subthema's zijn plannen, vertellen en stileren, ‘voicing’, etnografisch schrijven, vormen van engagement en reviseren.

De studenten rapporteren hun schrijf- en leeractiviteiten in een portfolio.

Format

The teaching format comprises lectures, workshops within break-out groups and plenary discussions

[Students are expected to attend and actively participate in the classes independent of the different interaction formats. They are supposed to prepare the sessions.

The concrete trajectory of the different sessions, as well as what is expected in terms of preparation, will be communicated well in time on the Toledo platform.]

Determination of the final result

The portfolio is evaluated according to an evaluation grid which is available on Toledo.

[The course is evaluated by the teacher, as announced via Toledo and the examination regulations. The result is calculated and expressed as an integer out of 20.

The agreed deadline is respected when submitting the assignments. Negotiation about any deviation is impossible. When any special circumstances have occurred, contacting the ombuds person of the faculty before the deadline is required. With disrespect of the agreed the deadline the course will be evaluated as a ‘NA’, unless a new submission deadline is determined after serious circumstances.
