Activities
1 ects. Selected Topics in Musculoskeletal Pathology in Relation to Manual Therapy (B-KUL-L01L5a)
Content
This course discusses several issues within the fields of rheumatology, orthopaedics and neurosurgery. The following topics will considered more closely:
- Rheumatology: Students will be instructed in specific elements concerning rheumatological disorders and manual therapy. Disease aspects of ankylosing spondylitis such as disease activity, damage, functional decline and quality of life will be discussed
- Orthopaedics: Students will receive a state of the art on orthopaedic surgery – with emphasis on the elbow, wrist, hand and shoulder – with its implications to physical therapy and rehabilitation.
- Neurosurgery: this consists of interactive case discussions including medical decisions and rehabilitation, as well an interactive journal club.
- The student will gain knowledge on risk profiling of patients with musculoskeletal disorders within these topics.
