This course evaluates the following learning outcomes:

The student

 

1.1 (EIR + EIB) analyses the international and European aspects of operational business-related problems and questions, taking into account the specific international and European business context and environment.

1.2 (EIR + EIB) formulates, on the basis of scientific knowledge on and insight into international relations, and in particular international and European political and economic relations, a well-founded solution for operational problems and questions of internationally oriented companies and when doing so, takes into account the specific international and European business context and environment.

1.3 (EIR + EIB) formulates, on the basis of scientific knowledge on and insight into foreign direct investments, a solution for operational international investment problems and questions, and when doing so, takes into account the specific international and European business context and environment.

1.4 (EIR + EIB) reflects critically on the international and European political, economic and institutional context in which companies operate, on the impact this context has on the functioning of companies and how companies can anticipate on this.

2.1 (EIR + EIB) analyses the international and European dimensions of the economy and the strategic problems and questions this imposes on international firms.

2.2 (EIR + EIB) formulates on the basis of scientific knowledge and insight into international business strategies a well-founded solution for strategic business problems and questions and when doing so, takes into account the specific international business context, the stakeholders involved, and the broader international environment in which the company operates.

3.1 (EIR + EIB) plans, organises and optimises processes concerning foreign investments, location  of foreign branches of companies, public institutions, lobby groups, … and takes the specific business context into account in the different processes.

 

If you want to follow this course, it is advisable to have completed the following courses first: ‘International Economics’ (HBA83B) and ‘Mathematics for Business Economists I and II’. (HBA06C and HBA15C)

This course studies location determinants of firms. Given a better understanding of these location determinants, we are able to analyse the impact of policy - both in general and of EU regional policy in particular - on these location outcomes.

Blended learning
