Aims
Graduates will have to be also - if not particularly - communicatively active and skillful as working professionals. English has a unique position as an international language in that respect. It is probably the most important medium of communication in trade and many economic matters. You will need a thorough knowledge of English in your professional life. On top of this, English is indispensable in your academic education. Most professional literature is in English.
The focus of English II lies mainly with the enhancement of an attitude of regular reading. Furthermore, it builds on the basic grammar that was dealt with in English I. It also enlarges business and general vocabulary with the help of language activities, such as presentations and meetings.

Content
This course consists of three components concerning content. The grammar builds on the basic grammatical structures covered in English I - a problem-based approach will be used. General vocabulary will be enlarged. A selection of texts and cases offers opportunities for language activities, such as presentation skills and meetings. On top of this, the lecturer brings texts along, e.g. from the (trade) press, for reading activities (with homework partly online, through Toledo).
