Aims
Gain knowledge about the latest evolutions in research and development of the constituent materials, the production processes and the user properties of composites.
This course covers the 4 following topics:
- Bio-composites
- Nano-composites
- Damage in fibre reinforced composites
- Interfaces in composites
Previous knowledge
Understanding how properties of composite materials are linked with the properties of the contituent materials and how these properties can be calculated using quantitative models, and a sound overview of current composite processing techniques.

In depth analysis of the materials science of composites, recent developments in the field.

Slides and handouts provided by the lecturers. Some classes are recorded on video.

Flipped classroom
Classes available on video, are studied before the respective classes take place. Then during class, summaries are given and questions are posed to the audience for further discussion.

Explanation
The exam has two parts:
1. Every student will have to review one paper, related to one of the four subjects of the course.
2. Every student will have to answer one question on one of the three other parts of the course. Students will have time to prepare their answers.
