Physical Geography Field Trip Abroad (B-KUL-G0L73A)





Aims
To learn how to use the knowledge and abilities on physical geographical subjects in a specific situation in the field:
- Learning to recognize dominant geomorphological processes in several types of landscape;
- Conduct independent observation of the area;
- Integrate several aspects of the problems of the area researched, taking into consideration previously acquired knowledge;
- The use of that knowledge to predict the evolution of landscapes under several scenarious of climate, land use and human activities.
Previous knowledge
Basic knowledge of physical geography and geology

Content
This course comprises of 7 days in the field in a European region (annual alternation of locations). This field visit is prepared by students using scientific literature, cartographic information and other sources relevant for the study area. Students present their work during a seminar before the field trip, but also during the field trip itself.

Explanation
Evaluation based on the following elements:
- written report of the preparation of the excursion;
- participation and activity during the excursion;
- oral open-book examination on all aspects related to the preparation of and the excursion itself.
