Aims
The course Physical Education School Placement part 2 is aimed at offering students a scientifically based frame of reference to teach the subject of Physical Education in secondary education with the necessary competence and effectiveness in terms of (motor) learning gains on an independent basis. The learning objectives in the field of content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge and insights are based on the basic competencies of the Teacher as formulated by the Flemish Government with an emphasis on the functional wholes/basic competencies (BC) 1 to 5 (responsibilities towards the learner), BC 6 to 10 (responsibilities to the school and the community). In this course students will expand and deepen their pedagogical content knowledge.
Based on a specific educational vision on the subject of Physical Education and to make its academic focus explicit, these functional entities/basic competencies (BC) are translated into subject-specific learning outcomes (V).

3 ects. School Placement Physical Education Part 2: Elaboration (B-KUL-O0G95a)
Content
Students do an independent school placement focussing on the learning gains of students independent of their (motor) skills and with higher demands on core practices (1) formulating and evaluating goals, (2) task presentation, (3) management, (4) active supervision and monitoring, (5) content development, (6) adaptive competence. The form, content and evaluation of the internship is guided by the decree's 10 basic competencies of the teacher. The following is expected of the students:
1. Observe at least 4 Physical Education (PE) lessons from your own internship classes in terms of teacher and student behavior. In addition, there will be at least 2 observation lessons during the internship program based on your own work points.
2. Teach at least 20 PE lessons over at least 6 weeks.
The evaluation is based on internship visits by the internship supervisor, the subject mentor at school, and the created portfolio.

Content
Students do an independent school placement with attention to the learning gains of students independent of their (motor) skills and use more complex instructional models with higher demands on core practices (1) formulating and evaluating goals, (2) task presentation, (3) management, (4) active supervision and monitoring, (5) content development, (6) adaptive competence. The form, content and evaluation of the internship is guided by the decree's 10 basic competencies of the teacher. The following is expected of the students:
1. Observe at least 2 Physical Education (PE) lessons from your own internship classes in terms of teacher and student behavior.
2. Teach at least 12 PE lessons over at least 3 weeks. The focus here is on the combination of motor skills and physical activity.
3. The students make a thorough analysis of the exercise policy at school, develop an improvement plan, and test this improvement plan for feasibility and implementation in the internship school. In this way, a contribution is made to the development of a physically active lifestyle at school. This assignment is guided by means of webinars.
