Content
Design assignment: urban project: public area
Students are confronted with architecture as design research as opposed to as a final result. They are also confronted with landscape architecture and public areas in urban developments.
Inputs:
- examples of urban analyses and urban designs
- visit to site and/or comparable projects
Visit to companies and/or projects.
Apart from introductory information for a concrete and current design assignment, students will also receive interactive guidance for their design, also in cooperation with the parties involved.
*
This design is a 'small' design that, in principle, is the same for all options. The theme can vary in the course of the years and thus play into the current events of architecture and, ideally, also into the design trajectory of the student.
Course material
Assignment in the form of a seminary, referring to published and unpublished examples.
A visit to a site.
A visit to realized projects that are comparable.
Examples in Dynamo.
Evaluation
Evaluation: Architectural Design Studio 5: Public Space (B-KUL-H21Z9a)
Explanation
Attendance at the start of the design studio (e.g. explanation of assignment, fieldwork and group division) is mandatory. Unauthorized absence at the start of the design studio (explanation of assignment, fieldwork and group division) will result in an NA for this course.
The evaluation is based on:
1. the submitted documents
2. the interaction during the guidance sessions
3. the presentation and defence of the design.
Calculation rules are used for the calculation of the total score. These are mentioned on Toledo.
The student receives feedback at the final presentation and, on request, in the week after the announcement of the examination results and at the beginning of the next semester.
Information about retaking exams
Given the specific evaluation format, the following applies: A student who was active during the academic year and has sufficiently (co)operated will receive an explanation of which objectives were not achieved. The student has to achieve these objectives through independent work and will be assessed after a presentation to a jury (minimum of 2 persons).
A student who was not active during the academic year will not be given a second examination opportunity. The result of the first examination will be retained.
