French linguistics III: French diachronic grammar (B-KUL-F0AI9A)
Aims
After a methodological introduction, this course focuses on the origin and the development of the phonological, morphological and syntactic structures that characterise Modern French. Its main objective is to make students understand the mechanisms that underlie these evolutions, so that they develop a better insight into the complexity of the structures of Modern French. The students also learn to use in a critical way the different approaches of the analysed problems.
The students will also learn to report (orally and/or in a written form) on these insights in a form that is academically adequate and in a language that meets the level C1.
