All attention is given to obtaining the skills relevant for economists, such as correct pronunciation and spelling and a – based on a basic knowledge of vocabulary and grammar – a survival kit of reading, listening, presenting and conversational skills. A distinction is made between building a necessary actively mastered component on the one hand (such as the basic sounds of standard Spanish of Spain); the basic tenses and basic types of verbs, reading and writing numbers; extremely current themes and terms) and passive knowledge on the other (pronunciation variations of regiolects in Spain and Latin America; more complex tenses and moods of verbs, variations of terms…). The size of the group determines how strongly the active component is seen.
