Upon completing this course, the student:

- can independently apply the addressed theories, methodologies, principles and tools to study and define a concrete action plan for a case within the own professional context.

- can estimate, analyse and evaluate the impact and value of the relevant frameworks and methodologies w.r.t. circular economy and sustainable polymer materials and products.

- can analyse, evaluate, explain and argument, orally and written, a case study within the own professional context, considering the multidisciplinary aspects within circular economy, and take informed decisions based on the outcome of the study.

- can contribute to the development of the transition to a circular economy from the own background and expertise.

The knowledge acquired and having succeeded in the following courses is prerequisite for this course:

OPO Module 1 – A holistic view on circular economy

OPO Module 2 –Sustainable polymer materials and products

OC Sustainable Polymers in a Circular Economy – Leuven/Brugge

• Under the supervision of the lecturers, the student performs a case study on a specific sub-aspect of the circular transition within her/his own organization, using the theories and tools provided during the courses.

• The student pitches her/his case study to fellow students and lecturers (from both choice modules), whereby feedback is given to each other.

• The student writes a thorough and critical paper on the case study containing a description of the literature and background information, used study approach, study results and an action plan to implement the transition.

• The student presents and defends the case study and results to the examination jury.

Papers

The students can opt to write and defend their dissertation either in English or Dutch.

Under the supervision of the lecturers of the program, the student performs a case study applying the theories and methodologies of circular economy and sustainable polymer materials and products to his/her own professional context/organisation. The student writes a thorough and critical paper on the outcome of the case study and presents it to the examination jury.
