This course is reserved exclusively for students in the Bachelor of European Studies programme. Students of other programmes are not allowed to take this course in their programme.

At the end of the course, students will be able to: 

  • master a large set of transversal skills in their future domestic and international work environments, so that they are equipped to use organizational, inter-cultural communication, language and information skills, when confronted with the challenges of daily professional practice.
  • understand and communicate issues from and across different cultural, European and international perspectives;
  • process knowledge and information in a timely, accurate, and efficient way and to seek solutions with student peers across cultural and linguistic boundaries throughout their studies.

This course can only be taken if students have successfully completed the courses ‘Research Track I’ and ‘Research Track II’

Information session 

At the beginning of the 3rd semester, an information session will provide all necessary information about the content and practical organization of the internship. The information session will be organized within the framework of the course ‘Research Track II’. 

In the course of semester 4, another non-mandatory follow-up session will be organized for students who want to take up their internship in the 5th semester. 


Internship positions 

It is solely the student’s responsibility to scout for viable internship positions within the field of European Studies, thereby taking into account the requirements of the respective organization or internship mentor.  

 
Application procedure 

When the student has found an internship position, (s)he writes a project proposal which needs to be handed in, together with the official intership agreement of the mobility instituion, to the internship coordinator of the programme. Deadlines, content and submission procedure will be available on the internship portal of the programme.  

The internship will only become part of the student’s curriculum on acceptance of the project proposal.

Evaluation

The grading scale of this course unit is pass/fail.

The internship comprises a minimum of 150 hours within the respective organization. 

Students have to prove their participation in the internship (confirmation letter by the employer in the last two weeks of the internship) and write an internship report of a maximum of 2.500 words, which is to be delivered to the programmes internship coordinator until at least two weeks after the internship has ended. 

Grading: pass/fail 

The evaluation of the local internship mentor will remain; the student will be able to resubmit an edited version of the internship report.
