The student gets an overview of the great culture-periods which are discerned in the Near-East and has to be able to collect an excerpt scientific literature independently.

The course gives an outline of the evolution of the cultures in Near-Azia (Anatolia, Syro-Mesopotamia, Palestinia,...) from the Paleolithicum to Alexander. The development in the field of ceramics, the glyptik, the architecture, etc. are linked to the changes in the way of living and the technological progress.
