The course will cover especially issues on scientific method and the realism/antirealism debate about science, such as:
- the problem of induction and other problems of inductivism
- falsificationism
- scientific revolutions and rationality
- scientific realism
- underdetermination
- explanation and inference

We will work with the following textbook: James Ladyman, Understanding Philosophy of Science. Routledge: London, 2002. Note that a hardcopy is on reserve in the HIW library.
