Aims

1. To contextualize and explicate basic concepts in social and cultural anthropology based on the analysis of exemplary texts;
2. To provide an encyclopedic overview of important developments, facts, and figures that influenced the field of social and cultural anthropology.

Previous knowledge

Students need not have previous experience in the field of social and cultural anthropology. Some background in the history of ideas in the social and human sciences is encouraged.
