Aims

Part Johan Leman: We want to give an insight in the ways different important anthropologists have analyzed religion in the past (until today), with focus on standard religions.
Part Knut Graw: We discuss the experiential dimension in religious forms such as divination, magic and spirit possession.

Previous knowledge

Students are familiar with social-theoretical (anthropological, sociological, economical) concepts and theories; they have an active knowledge of the main approaches, methods and themes in social and cultural anthropology.
