Aims
The goal is to offer students specialized knowledge of a specific areas of law (Consumer law, Intellectual property law, Banking and Financial law, Legal history and legal theory) focussed in its comparative and/or European dimension, taugth by a renowned foreign guest professor.
Previous knowledge
Basic knowledge of international and European public law. Basic knowledge of general principles of private law in an international and European context.
Content
During the academic year 2012-2013 the course Current developments in European integration will be devoted to some specific topics of commercial law, more specifically: consumer law, intellectual property law, banking and financial law and legal history and legal theory, focused in its comparative and/or European dimension.
Students choose two out of those four topics.
These courses will be taught by leading world experts:
- In the field of consumer law, Prof. Dr. Christopher Hodges (University of Oxford) will focus on "Enforcement of claims in consumer law";
- In the field of intellectual property law, Prof. Dr. Sean O Connor (University of Washington) will focus on "Life Sciences, R&D Programs and the Law";
- In the field of banking and financial law, Prof. Dr. P. Davies (University of Oxford);
- In the field of legal history and legal theory, Dr. Goncalo de Almeida Ribeiro (Harvard Law School, University of Lisbon) will focus on "The decline of private law".

1. Current Developments of European Integration (C06B6A): this course consists of four modules, of which students have to choose two. All these modules offer teaching by leading foreign professors:
