On the basis of the following degrees, or similar degrees, obtained at an institution of the Flemish Community:
After admission procedure
Students who meet both the following requirements are guaranteed to be admitted after submitting their application:
1. Requirements for the first cycle in canon law as mentioned in the Apostolic Constitution 'Sapientia Christiana' (1979) modified by the decree 'Novo Codice' (2002) and by the apostolic constitution ‘Veritatis gaudium’ (2018).
2. Hold a Master of Society, Law and Religion (or dutch equivalent degree), obtained at KU Leuven.
Applications should be sent in time via email to the Faculty of Canon Law. Make sure to submit all necessary attestations in order to prove that the forementioned requirements are fulfilled.
Students with a degree not obtained at an institution of the Flemish Community
Diploma requirements
Students must always have obtained a master's degree in ‘society, law and religion (At KU Leuven). If this is not the case, always have prior permission from the faculty.Language requirements
All applicants must prove their proficiency in English. The accepted English proficiency tests are:- TOEFL IBT: minimum overall score of 79
- IELTS Academic: minimum overall score of 6.5
- Cambridge: CPE certificate or CAE certificate
The following applicants are exempted from submitting an English proficiency certificate:
Applicants who have obtained a previous diploma (secondary or higher education) taught in English in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Transitional arrangements:
Students who have already started their program in academic year 2023-2024 or earlier take the following conditions into account when compiling their program:
1) Students are required to include the following course units in their program if they have not yet been included in the Master's Society, Law and Religion: Roman law: reader (B0B79A), Introduction to Common Law (C03I1B) and Introduction to Secular Legal Systems (B0B40B)
Students with a Bachelor (or Master) in law compile a program for this part of 15 credits with course from the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies.
2) Students further supplement their program with 'Specialization courses in Canon Law’ and cannot request exemptions for subjects from this section that have already been taken to obtaining the degree in Master Society, Law and Religion.-
