- essential principles of WTO law: most-favoured nation, non-discrimination and market access; distinctive features of the main WTO agreements
- position of the European Community and its Member States within the WTO
- the WTO dispute settlement mechanism
- tariffs, customs classification, customs valuation, World Customs Organization
- non-tariff barriers
- trade, health protection, environment and labour standards
- escape clauses
- anti-dumping, subsidies, countervailing duties, other commercial defence instruments
- public procurement
- General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS)
- TRIPS, intellectual property rights and WIPO
- TRIMS, investment protection, MIT’s and BIT’s
- Prospects for the future
