To offer more insight in the main processes and disputes that affected the Catholic Church during the Early Modern Period in the light of the history of the Faculty of Theology of the Old University of Leuven.
Content
Apart from a general overview of the external and internal history of the Old Faculty of Theology (1432-1797), the course mainly points at the great discussions and disputes of the period: the confrontation with Renaissance Humanism and the Protestant Reformation; the Counter Reformation and Catholic Reformation; Jansenism; Enlightenment and Revolution.
